More than a land acknowledgment.
Chief Seattle Club strives to recognize, honor, and lift up all Indigenous peoples with whom we share this land.
We at Chief Seattle Club acknowledge:
We are on the ancestral lands of Coast Salish Nations, whose people still steward this land today.
Chief Seattle Club is named in honor of Chief Si’ahl (1780-1866), a Duwamish and Suquamish ancestor for whom the city of Seattle is also named. This land we occupy embodies a living history shared by diverse Coast Salish peoples, many of whom still fight for Federal recognition.
There are many ways to understand Indigenous relationships to land and heritage. One tool is the map, which may change depending on the map’s author and narrative. To provide perspective, we have included a variety of maps that depict tribal lands in the Puget Sound region.

We are still here.
“This we know: The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. This we know: all things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected.”
-Chief Si’ahl
